the sims2   
I realy need help with the sims2 it wont work on my pc and it says cannot 
read disc in the instruction manual says to update the firmware for your disc 
drive to 8x my computer is a windows xp that takes52x max can you help me to 
get a download that puts my disc drive up to 8x or help me put it up to 8x 
useing my files i dont realy know what to do i need help ASAP!!!!! and im a 
real big sims fan ty (ive never installed sims2 on my pc if thats any help)

Heck of a long sentence to plough through - learn to punctuate!

It sounds like your disc drive is okay speed-wise - you say it's 52x (I 
think, from what you've written) and Sims 2 needs 8x, so no need for 
anything to be done there (not that you could anyway, without replacing the 
drive).

First thing that occurs to me - could it be that your disc drive is a CD 
drive and the Sims 2 disc is perhaps a DVD? That would explain it.

Basic troubleshooting: try the Sims 2 disc in another machine, see if it can 
be read there. Also, try another disc in your machine, see if it can be 
read. This will help pin down where the fault is.
