What do you mean when you say "partial" sound? I assume you went to
gateway.com/support to make sure you have the latest sound card drivers
installed?
If not, go do that, while you are there, get all the drivers for the rest
of your system.
Try the game again, see if anything improves. Check the Sound options in
Bioshock, try playing/lowering some of the settings, see if anything helps.

Get the Chipset drivers, Network Drivers, and Sound Drivers. Video if you
know which card you have installed. If you have DirectX 10 I am guessing
you have an nVidia video card. You could go to nvidia.com and get the
latest drivers from there.
If you're video card is Intel you aren't really running DirectX 10, you're
running DirectX 9, but Dx9 in Bioshock looks just as good as 10, IMHO.
