Age of Empires 3 - Games for Windows   

I've heard that Microsoft Games for Windows have region-encodings on them,
which means that I won't be able to buy Age of Empires 3 for PC off eBay USA
and play it on my computer in Australia. Is this true?

Does anyone have the US version of AOE3 and play it in Australia?
