I use VSS 2005 integrated with Visual Studio (2005 and 2008). I have all updates for VSS and VS applied. I do NOT have VS 2008 SP1 Beta applied. VSS database is located on the network share. I have third party diff application configured in VSS client (Araxis Merge). I right-click on the file name in Solution Explorer pane and select "View History". History is displayed. Then I select the version I want to get in the history list and press "Get". At this time I get dialog that says "Out of memory", the dialog has red round icon with white cross next to the text. The title of the dialog says "Microsoft Visual SourceSafe". The only button on the dialog is "OK". When I press "OK" and check differences with the file version I was trying to get and my local copy there are no differences, so "get" operation apparently completed successfully. The problem manifests itself both on VS 2005 and 2008. It doesn't happen all the time but in most cases it does. It NEVER happens when I try to do this from VSS directly. I don't get this error message under any other circumstances (check out/ check in/compare) - only in the situation I described above. Any ideas? Is this a known problem?
