Load a existing asp.net project from Sourcesafe.
I want to load a project from sourcesafe into VS2005.

I have been developing a website using VS2005 and the project is in
sorucesafe.

I now have a second developer and I am trying to setup the project from the
new workstation. VS and sorucesafe are installed. How do I setup the project.
Get all the files from SS and connect the project to SS.

Thank you

Since you already have the project in VSS the binding should already
be in the solution (.sln).

Well first of all create a user in VSS for him, then let him connect
with the standalone vss client to set a working directory where he
puts the files on his local PC. After that he can do a GET on the
files with the same client finally open the solution with VS2005. That
should be enuff. You can also do it from within VS but I like to use
the client cause you can do a bit more with that.

I would also suggest making sure you both have the option that VS2005
does a get from VSS everytime the project is opened, that way you
ensure you have consistent sources on your PCs.

ajk,

Thank you for your reply. I created the user, Opened the local copy of VSS
explorer and set the working folder. This was File,SetWorkingFolder menu item.

The next step it to do a GET I have searched help and all menu items and
there is no GET. Can you help.

Thank you,

Re: Load a existing asp.net project from Sourcesafe.
Hello Jerry,

I think what ajk mentioned is "Get Latest Version".

In VSS Explorer, please navigator to your project node, right-click on this
folder. There is an option named "Get Latest Version" in context menu.
Please click on it, check the checkbox "Recusive" and "Build Tree" in the
prompt dialog. After you click "OK" button, VSS Explorer will output the
whole project stored in VSS to your working folder which you have specified
before this task.

By the way, you can also set the WorkingFolder for your project by "Set
Working Folder" in context menu.

Hope this helps,
Best regards,

Hi,

If you right click on the project you can select "get latest version"
from the context menu.
