Upgrade Visual Studio 6 to Visual Studio 2008?
I have Visual Studio 6 Professional. Can I install the upgrade version of
Visual Studio 2008 Professional?

I can't find this info on Microsoft's website.

If VS6 is not listed as a possible upgrade, then the answer is "no".

It's a long time between VS6 and now. I'd be surprised if that was an
upgrade scenario.

Short answer, no.

VS'2008 is a whole new animal and, IMHO, /not/ an upgrade of its much
lamented predecessor.

You can, however, install both of them side-by-side and they will run
perfectly happily.

According to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vs2008/products/cc263904.aspx

-------------------------------------------------------------
Upgrade Pricing Eligibility

To qualify for upgrade pricing, you must be a licensed user of one of the
following products:

    * An earlier version of Microsoft Visual Studio
    * Any other developer tool (including free developer tools, such as Visual
Studio Express Editions or Eclipse)

Upgrade pricing eligibility does not apply for Volume Licensing programs.
-------------------------------------------------------------

So the answer is yes you can legally purchase, install and use the upgrade
version.

Additionally it will not damage your VS6 installation and will happily run
side by side with it.
