VS2008 Linker
If there's anyone from Microsoft listening in, could they please find
the office of the person responsible for the Visual Studio 2008
linker, give said person a good hard slap round the head and tell them
that it would be nice if their product didn't crash at least once
every half-dozen times I run it ?

That would _so_ nice.

Thank you (from a frustrated user).

LOL :) There's some linker fixes on the way...hopefully they are in SP1.

I personally have a couple projects that always crash the linker on the
first link after a reboot. I hear that one's fixed.

You could try the VS 2008 SP1 Beta - maybe it's been fixed already!
