Share, Pin and Branch a project with deleted files
We've been using VSS for a long time but this is the first time that
we've tried to use it create separate branches for bug fix vs.
continuing development.

When I go back several labeled version and try to create a new
shared/pinned/branched project it fails with the error "Version not
found".

It worked OK for the most recent few versions and then would fail for
all versions before that. I looked back through the history and my
guess is that the problem is related to adding a file to VSS and then
deleting it.

Is this what's causing the problem? If so, is there any way to tell
VSS to skip over this type of error rather than aborting? Maybe show a
warning saying "could not find file XYZ", but continue building the new
project?

Or, is it possible to somehow update the history and remove the traces
of these files that have been deleted?
