Re: Internet Web Service connection woes
Egbert:
I don't know if these suggestions will help, but they might be worth a
try.
Open the solution and then Choose to UNBIND all projects and the
solution. Once it is unbound, try to BIND all projects and the solution
to the UNC type connection.
If that doesn't work, you may want to UNBIND, and then try Opening from
Source Code Control to a NEW working folder.
Good Luck.

Re: Internet Web Service connection woes
Hi Egbert,
Scci remembers the connection type used last time when the solution was
open.
When you open the solution and that connection type fails for some reason,
Source control will automatically switch (either from LAN->Http or
viceversa).
However, Scci should have prompted before switching providers with a message
like this:
The Visual SourceSafe database folder could not be accessed.
Would you like to switch to the Visual SourceSafe Internet plug-in and
attempt to reconnect using HTTP?
If you agree to switch and the http connection is successfull, scci will
remember the new connection type.
You can force the integration to use a specific connection type by closing
the solution, using the Tools/Options/SourceControl/Plug-ins page to choose
between VSS (LAN/Http) providers, then reopen the solution.

I don't know why VisualStudio or SourceSafe could crash with a path pointing
to Dr.Watson's files. I haven't seen this error.
You should probably open a bug at
http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback providing as much details as
possible what you're doing, the structure of your solution, and exact error
messages you get from the IDE.
