VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi;

What are we supposed to use now instead of VSS? I know VS 2005 says it is
going to have a new source code control system - but I can't find anything in
the version I installed.

Where do I get it? I have the professional/developer version of VS 2005. I
didn't find it on that.

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi Dave,

The VSS 2005 is not included in VS.NET 2005 Pro. It has to be purchased
seperately. You can check the following link for more information.

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi dave,

I don't have MSDN subscription in my hand. Since this is a marketing issue.
It's better for you to contact the marketing team. You can find their
information from the following link:

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi;

I went to the MSDN download page. I can get the Team Edition for Software
Developers or the Team Foundation Server - do either of these have it?

It also has the Visual Source Safe beta 2 - is VSS 2005 not released yet?

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi Dave,

The VSS 2005 is released. It is included in the Visual Studio Team Suite
RTM. The Team Foundation Server is still in beta version and it DOESN'T
include VSS. If you carefully check the following link, you will find the
information you need.

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi;

I read it carefully <g>. Does this mean Team System includes the VSS 2005
server, or just the client part and I need TFS for the server part?

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi Dave,

The Team Foundation Server includes its own source control component. It's
different from VSS. Also, the VSS is NOT included in TFS. Although you
might have Team System, if you need to get VSS 2005, you have to purchase
it seperately. The server and client of VSS are sold together.

Re: VS 2005 - what instead of VSS?
Hi;

For others who may read this - if you have MSDN Enterprise and selected
Team/Developer - you get VSS 2005 - just got my CDs yesterday.
