Re: Reg. Dat file corrupted
Well, if you run analyze with the -F flag, the error is probably already
fixed...
There is nothing else you can do - if your file had a name longer than 31
characters, the rest of characters are lost if you had names.dat damaged.
One thing you should probably do is to upgrade to a newer VSS build
(8163/8169 is a 7 years old build).
VSS 6.0d is a free upgrade

When ever i try to access a particular folder, it is saying names.dat may be
corrupted. please tell me suitable suggestion to fix the corrupted
file.without upgradation

Hi Rizwan,
Running analyze in fix mode is your first chance. Are you sure you run
"analyze -F" and didn't correct the problem?
If yes, you should try upgrading, there might be bugs fixed in recent
version of analyze that might help correcting the problem.
Otherwise, you can only call product support and they should help you fix
the database.

i am sure i ren analyse -F and it corrected some errors and finally said
name.dat may be corrupted.
