RE: Major problems using TFS source control from VS 2005

Would you please check whether the SP1 of Visual Studio 2005 got installed?
If the SP1 has been setup, please let us know the "exception" you see when
Visual Studio crashes. This information is very essential for our
trouble-shooting. In addition, is there any error log in the System Event
Viewer?

We can filter the current solution with the button "Filter by solution" in
the check-in dialog. That allows limiting files by solution.

Because neither vs2005, nor vs2008 sees the change of the file, I wonder
whether the file was once edited offline? For example, the file was once
disconnected/unbound from the source control, or, the file was set to
writable in windows explorer without checking out? If that's the case, we
need to get the latest version from the server by "Get specific version",
check it out, and replace its content with our new edition, then check it
in.
Please let me know if you have any other concerns, or need anything else.

Re: Major problems using TFS source control from VS 2005
What I did was edit it in VS 2005. When I did that it never asked me
if I wanted to check it out, it just let me edit it and save it.
It also does not give me an option to check the file out when I right
click on it.
Also, while it shows me all the files in the TFS source control
window, it will not give me the command to check them out there also.
It's like it's a read-only view of the files.
??? - thanks - dave

Is the "checkout to edit" or "get specific version" disabled(grayed) or
disappeared in the context menu? If the item is disabled, please check
whether the user has the proper permission to check out the files.

Based on my tests, I see this symptom when the file was once edited offline
(disconnected/unbound from the source control), or when I once changed the
file's read-only property to false in Windows Explorer. Is it the case on
your side?
