RE: How do I get the latest version from TFS source control
Hello Dave,
I get the symptom of "having a file that VS 2005 let me edit without
checking out" reproduced on my side when I manually set the file's
"read-only" property to false in Windows Explorer. Visual Studio allows me
to edit the file, but there's still a lock icon beside the file in Solution
Explorer. Thus, would you please check whether your file's Read-Only
property is false in your Windows Explorer?
For the symptom of "Get Specific Version, using a Date of yesterday and
selecting Overwrite writeable... doesn't work", Dave, please make sure the
option "Force get of file version already in workspace." is also checked in
the dialog. If it's not selected, and if the currently checked-out version
equals the one that we are going to check-out, TFS will not retrieve the
files again to save the performance.

Checking both boxes did it. I wish there was a simple "get latest -
compare the file on disk" like VSS has.
