Uninstall Vista Beta 2
I have successfully installed Vista. All seems to work. I cruised around and
determined that I am not ready for it yet. I went to the uninstall programs
section. I could not find any place on how to remove the program from my
hard drive. I have hidden files visible and still can not see where to
uninstall.

Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Chuck;
There is no uninstall option.
You need to Clean Install whatever OS you want installed.

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Thanks for the response. At least I am not totally losing it by not finding
an uninstall icon.
Perhaps you can come up with a second solution. When I installed Vista, it
was placed on another hard drive giving me a dual operating system. On
boot-up, I have to chose either XP or Vista.
If that is the case, can I just delete the folder housing Vista?
Thanks, Chuck

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Chuck;
I am not sure about this since I am not yet very familiar with how Vista
sets up for boot...
Vista replaces the boot.ini with its own file so it is not so simple as
deleting the other installation.

But a Repair Installation of Windows XP will repair the boot.ini and once
done the Vista installation can be deleted, formatted etc off the second
drive.
Repair Installation:

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Thanks. That makes sense, oh wise one. I bow to your superior knowledge.
I am just so glad that I do not have to do a clean boot, I am ecstatic with
happiness.

Thanks again, Chuck

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Don't do a repair installation. That's practically as bad as a reinstall.
Just delete your Vista installation. Put in your XP installation disk and
run the recovery console by pressing R at the appropriate time. In here run
fixboot and fixmbr and you should be good to go without destroying all your
XP application installations.

Re: Uninstall Vista Beta 2
Thanks for responding.

There is no way that I can delete the Vista directory nor any of the subs. I
am advised the files are in use or I do not have permission.

I did reinstall XP SP2 to get out of the dual boot. I guess because I am in
XP, Vista does not recognize this and forbids me access to deleting it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Chuck
