So I am playing around with Vista and I get a call from our network security guy who notices im tumbling out of our network with IPv6... I didn't even realize it... How do you disable IPv6 so that Vista uses IPV4... Is it simply disabling the IP service so that it doesn't switch to IPv6? Is there a better way... Also, remember in one of the longhorn builds it had a side bar on the right that you could use, what happened to that? -- --AOPC Network Tech
Doesn't look like anyone has helped you yet, and I am not sure I fully can. With Windows Vista there is a new network stack that covers both IPv4 and IPv6. I haven't yet found a way to disable IPv6, but I have been able to disable the tunneling adapters which might be enough for what you are seeing. to disable the 6to4 adapter run from a command prompt Netsh Interface 6to4 set state state=disabled to disabled the isatap adapter run netsh interface isatap set state disabled The sidebar is not available in the Beta1 build, there are rumors that it might be making a come back in the newer builds.
