Beta1 Vista New Folder/Dual Boot/Virtual PC
If you have a Windows XP Pro SP2 box, can Beta 1 Vista be installed as a
dual boot or in a new folder without any problems--what is the optimal
method if the 80 GB HD is divided into 4 drives and XPPro SP2 is installed
to C:\\?

Should I install as a dual boot; can I install Vista Beta1 to a new folder?
I want to keep my setup on this box separate from Vista. I understand in
the future their may be a Virtual PC embedded Vista from the Technet article
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/evaluate/feat/deplovw.mspx

Also would it be wise to install it using MSFT Virtual PC--I have this.

Re: Beta1 Vista New Folder/Dual Boot/Virtual PC
You can install Vista in a dual boot configuration but only on a new
partition if you want to keep back XP Pro SP2. If you choose to install
Vista on the same partition as XP Pro SP2, it will wipe it clean as whistle.
By the way, back up.

Re: Beta1 Vista New Folder/Dual Boot/Virtual PC
Andre thanks. Appreciate your sites. I assume that means if there are
C/D/E/F and G/H for CD and DVD drives that all drives have separte
partitions? So for example Vista could be installed on E or according to
some dual boot directions.

Re: Beta1 Vista New Folder/Dual Boot/Virtual PC
Do not install it to a "new folder" install it to a seprate partition.
Personally I prefer using a third party boot manger as well. I use a cheap
little thid party boot manger that allow me to set partitions active and
hide partitions from each other. That way duing setup the OS is assigned
drive letter C and makes for easier management later on.
