Some things I immediately liked about the Beta. Some things make me wonder. This unofficial Beta tester here is making some notes on WV B1 and will publish them here for the Microsoft team's and whoever else's sake. They/you can use / read it if they/you want. I'm going to make a couple of quick preliminary comments, then I will report back in a few days. Quick Comments: It is interesting that it is built on Win2003 code and in some ways it is convenient that it continues the NT line. Sure, some people want it all built from scratch, but that's for another time. As mentioned, the Server 2003 code is a good base for the present time. The colours of the Beta are nice and I like the theme. But it is very Windows XP. I finding the changes to Windows Explorer difficult. It seems slow to render here and traversing seesm un-intuitive. Going up one on the folder heirarchy? There's no button for that - use the back button hope that's what it does for you. Where's the [real] icon view? Because here the icon view is more of a tiles view etc. etc. I didn't install my audio drivers right away - WinVista later asked me about them - I really liked that. What an excellent feature. IE7 tabs are great - much better than the MSN ones. I like the enhancement to Outlook Express newsgroups - community features etc. very nice. But I'm afraid that by signing in it all gets saved to some data base for my boss to throw at me later on? Why sign in and is this catalogued? I'm not sure about the change in the Start menu and will be watching to see if I grow to love it. And so on .. will get back with my report in a few days with better considered comments. Stephen
Its for developers and IT Professionals to exploit the core features Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Presentation Foundation. Its also to test and ensure your applications are fully compatible. Most of your impressions are mostly end user related and will be resolved by beta 2. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm "Stephen" <stephen@online.nospam> wrote in message news:uhV8yD4kFHA.1440@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > Some things I immediately liked about the Beta. The buttons are there if one "customizes" the toolbars. But I noticed that, yes, you can pretty much just go directly with the dropdown. The explorer program in WinVista seems to be getting better and better the more I look at it.
