2 Windows Vista Suggestions
Two suggestions for Windows Vista.

1- I think it would be a good idea to have the ability of putting the system
tray icons where I want. Example:"Have the Volume Control placed after/next
to the clock, or have the Volume Control placed far away from the clock."

2- I think it would be a good idea to have the ability to create multiple
user names that could be optimized for a specific task. Example: "Create a
username configured for video editing which only loads specific programs,
example: no Antivirus Protection or other that interfere with video editing
and still having another username that will load the programs for when the
computer is not being used for editing. There should be a wizard giving
these options and walking the user through it.

Anyone with any thought?

Re: 2 Windows Vista Suggestions
I certainly agree with the point of being able to rearrange anything on the
taskbar. Microsoft Research in the UK have developed "GroupBar" which does
this already, and on one of my virtual machines I'm running this as a total
replacement for the taskbar!

OK so it needs a bit of work, but so far it's pretty cool.

RE: 2 Windows Vista Suggestions
Hi

Yeah, I agree ... various usernames is a practical option but what's the
point of it if you're just logging on the same person with different
usernames ... rediculous! This is purely my opinion but implementing so
called 'viewer trays' on the Windows task bar so you can see a sleek preview
of the application you are just about to open is a bit frivolous, I know what
their getting at, but seeing a minature version of the application before it
is launched is in my opinion a waste of desktop space. We should be
concentrating on the pragmatics of creating an efficent windows OS
environment and focusing on the smooth integration of actions and commands in
the functioning of Windows Vista but it seems this issue has been overlooked
somewhat. Although, I think the transparency feature for corresponding
windows opened on the desktop is an excellent feature but again I worry about
the practicality of this on the user depending on their circumstances e.g. a
financial anaylst might have to open many windows and this might cause the
screen to overload. But, yeah, everthing looks good so far ... keep it up!

Re: 2 Windows Vista Suggestions
Hello there,

Yeah, I like rearranging icons on my taskbar too but if you've got an icon
on your computer's desktop and also on your taskbar, it becomes impractical
and you're stuck with the dilemma of whether to click on the taskbar icon or
the desktop icon ... so I have come to the conclusion that the best way of
solving this problem is to only allow icons for software application and
utility programs on your desktop and customised icons on the taskbar.
Basically, I'm anticipating that Vista will provide good program integration,
faster application startup, greater versatility and more efficient wireless
access and broadband integration. I'm not admitting that I have these devices
on my computer but it would be good to have them optionally included and
available in the new OS. And I think that's all ... hahaha.
