We have not launched a Customer Technology Preview program yet for Windows
Vista so there is no October CTP yet.

Re: Windows Vista October CTP
I also want to know why there is a Windows Vista September CTP on MSDN if you
haven't launched that program yet. It was announced at PDC 2005 that this
program was beginning as of the PDC build in September.

The September CTP release as you refer to it is the PDC 5219 build.
Have you seen a public CTP announcement of the commencement of such a
program or a sign-up page ? - I am not aware of us formally announcing such
a program yet or taking sign-ups for it.

A quick search on Google found this - in the press releases section of the
Microsoft web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2005/sep05/09-13PDC05Day1PR.mspx

According to the press release this information appears to have been part
of Bill Gates' keynote at PDC.

Thank you Judy,

It is in that page for the presspass. I appreciate your help with this. I
don't know why Mike wouldn't be aware of this. I mean he does work at
Microsoft so as an employee they should let him know about it shouldn't
they?? Mike, I didn't mean to be ignorant or anything. I was just surprised
by the fact that you didn't know about the ctp program. It was a big
revelation in the development of vista. Sorry about that if I seemed a little
rude.

I am aware of the PressPass page and the proposed CTP program..
The point is a Press release is no the same as having the pages up that will
allow for the sign up to and delivery of the CTP program. So questions
about "where is the CTP build" etc are not really relevant if the program is
not actually running or accessible.

Yes, it (CTP Vista) is available (MSDN).

PS: A CTP is not the same as a Public Preview program.

Re: Windows Vista October CTP
Hi Leen:

I know that, I just mean the build that is under the ctp program. The next
one in that program, It is called CTP and I know that it is not automatically
public, but I have MSDN Operating Systems Subscription and a build was
announced for october(called Windows Vista October CTP). The name means
nothing at all to me except that I am trying to find out when we get that
build. Honestly, I know that you might not know of the release date right
now. I am just looking to get that information somewhere. Thank you for your
time. I appreciate it and I will now look elsewhere for the information. I
didn't mean to bug you guys, I just thought that the communication might have
gone out for this next build. Sorry again, I hope you know something about it
sometime soon. I will try back on the 20th of October and maybe that will be
far enough along for you to have been notified about it from the main campus
of microsoft at redmond, wa. Again, I sincerely appologize if I sounded rude
at all, I just was hoping to know.

I knew you did, but it looked like Mike is mixing up the CTP (which is
currently " active" ) and a public preview.

Since the last one was in September and the CTP is montly, chances are big
we'll see one in October 2005.

Re: Windows Vista October CTP
Leen,

How is it a hoax when other programs use connect as point of contact for
testing.

TAP in this case has had access to the beta for at least a week. While it
is not readily available to all beta testers. Which is a good thing IMO as
the TAP will get rid of a few more bugs in 3221 before itis released to the
general beta test group. (hope that is so) On top of that TAP members are
usaually the largest users of the software from a business standpoint.

While it is water under the bridge currently. most tech testers know about
the multiple level of testing that is occuring within MS. From TAP, MVP.
TECH, CTP's to the upcoming Public beta around beta 2 and the public ctp's
coming, it is just a matter of when MS makes it public (and some are never
made public)
