Hi All, Sometime last weekend my desktop font changed for no reason. I can change it back by going into the Appearance settings and reselecting the Windows Aero color scheme. Then next time I log on again, it's changed back to how it was. See attachment for how it looks on screen. The before image is how it is when I log on, after is how it is after I have reselected. If I look at the advanced properties either before or after, it claims to be using Segoe UI, but these are clearly two different fonts. I have had other desktop settings that do not persist after logging off, like the control panel appearance. When I log on it is on icons, so I change it to list. Then next time I look, it's back to icons again. It's driving me mad. +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: aerofont.png | |Download: http://vista64.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4773| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ -- jmorris
Hello JMorris, It looks like ClearType is not being used with the before image. When I toggle it on and off, it looks like your images. This tutorial will show you how to turn ClearType back on if needed. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/83834-cleartype-font-settings.html I'm not sure what may be turning it off for you. Hope this helps, Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*VISTA FORUMS*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.*
Oh yeah, that will be the VB app I've been running that turns font smoothing off. It worked ok in XP, but I guess it isn't reenabling smoothing correctly. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up. -- jmorris
Your welcome JMorris. Hope you get the VB app sorted out. Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*VISTA FORUMS*' (http://www.vistax64.com) *Please post feedback to help others.*
