Missing WMI class and properties in SQL Server 2008 CTP
In a Windows 2003 SP2 system with SQL Server 2008 CTP installed on it, the
WMI class win32_perfrawdata_mssqlserver_sqlservercachemanager is missing and
any attempt to enumerate it ends in an “Invalid class” error. The class is
available in SQL Server 2005 and we couldn’t get any info on the MSDN.

Also the WMI class win32_perfrawdata_mssqlserver_sqlserverbuffermanager
lacks one of the properties: ‘Procedurecachepages’. With SQL Server 2005 that
property was in the afore mentioned class

Is there any official reason for its absence? Is there any new class that
will replace its functionality? They will be present in the final version of
SQL Server 2008?

RE: Missing WMI class and properties in SQL Server 2008 CTP
Hi Tango,

I see you have posted six new issues in the WMI newsgroup. Due to bandwidth
reason, we can only handle the issues one by one. Also, memory leak type of
issue has gone out of the MSDN managed newsgroup support boundary. I would
recommend you to contact Microsoft CSS for case support. Thanks for your
kindly understanding.

Regarding this SQL Server2008 WMI class issue, since it is maintained by
the SQL Server team instead of WMI team, I will contact SQL Server team for
more information. I will feedback any information here.

Thanks.

Best regards,
Jeffrey Tan

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at

RE: Missing WMI class and properties in SQL Server 2008 CTP
Hi Tango,

I have sent two consulting emails to the SQL Server team for confirmation,
however, I did not get any response yet.

For this issue, I would recommend you to submit bug/suggestion report in
the Microsoft official site below:
https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer

Your request will be filed by an automation system and dispatched to the
SQL Server team. They will provide an official response to you. This should
be the best channel to report this issue and get information.

Thanks.

Best regards,
Jeffrey Tan
