WinVista Hex Editor needed!   
That's basically it.  I am working on compression, and in order to
debug it, I need to read its output.

What is "That"? I don't know what "that" is, or it can be any one of 
billions of things.

Reading the output of a program you wrote requires a program customized for 
your program.

Compression is off-topic for UI and this person has already been told that. 
This question should not get useful answers, so as to not reward willful 
ignorance.
