VS2005 Error List window - message pane   

Hi

I've been trying to get messages into the Messages pane of the Error 
List window in VS2005. Originally I thought this would probably be 
feeding from #pragma message lines in the code, but alas, they only 
appear in the output window. Does anyone know how to get messages into 
this window, or if I am totally misunderstanding what this pane is for 
and should just go an use the Task List instead.
