I downloaded the the October release, file name: dxsdk_oct2005.exe. But when I tried to install it, it says that the file is not a valid win32 application. I dont know what this means! This is the first time I've downloaded a directx sdk. I'm trying to download so I can use a game programming book that I got. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong, or if there is another step I need to take before running the sdk, I would appreciate it greatly.
After messing around with it for a little bit, I found out that I needed to extract the file to another folder. I did. I then tried to run dxsdk.exe, but it also tells me that it is an invalid win32 application. So, now what do I do?

Sounds like the download was corrupted. Delete it and try again. -- Andrew
