Rotating videos shot vertically
Hi,

Don't laugh, but I accidentally shot a couple of short videos with my
digital photo camera while framing for a vertical picture format; that is
holding the camera sideways. I used still cameras for 50+ years, and this
was only the third time I was using my new camera's video feature. I guess I
wasn't thinking too clearly.

Anyway, is there anyway to rotate the videos, so people can view them
without having to tilt their heads 90 degrees? The files are in AVI format.

I keep thinking I can't be the first person to goof this way, so there must
be way to fix it. Thank you.

Re: Rotating videos shot vertically
The only way I know, is using Roxio Easy Media Creator Suite.'s Vifeowave
module. Create a colour panel of the appropriate length, add the video as an
overlay to that, and you can rotate the overlay through 90 degrees (you need
to adjust the size also if you want to include the whole original width of
the clip). Of course, as the video format is 4:3 (or 19:6), you will get
borders left and right of the rotated clip.

Re: Rotating videos shot vertically
There's a free video conversion program called Super that will do it easily.
It can be downloaded from
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/super.cfm
Click the "D" on the "DirectShow Decode" button on the top right and tick
the "turn right" or "turn left".

Re: Rotating videos shot vertically
Windows Movie Maker lets you reorient them too. =)
