Re: Cannot get past TV Signal Setup
I'm in a rural area; our only choices are broadcast or satellite; they don't
run cable out here. Getting rid of the satellite bill would let us fit a new
LCD into the budget, but it sounds like Microsoft is a bit behind the curve...
I *thought* the SiliconDust/HDHomeRun product was the best solution, but
never saw this problem mentioned on the box or in the reviews.
Is there any way to "emulate" an analog tuner enough to get MCE2005 to run,
or do I need to buy/add yet another gizmo to the box or sit on the desk?<sigh>

Re: Cannot get past TV Signal Setup
I suggest that you order an upgrade copy of Windows 7 Home Premium for $50
prior to July 10th and you will get it the end of October then you can use
your HDHR with MC.
I do not know if any TV applications other then MC work with an HDHR but I
suspect that they do, Check the HDHR website for information about them.

Re: Cannot get past TV Signal Setup
Unfortunately, that won't work for my main box, with the nice new HDHomeRun
toy (TV on any PC)...<sigh>
I had to return a brand new Vista machine, after 3 weeks of wrestling with
it, trying to get things running. Turned out Vista didn't work with my
top-of-the-line HP printer (only 3 yrs old!), and two software packages (one
a brand-new version, the other a specialized Excel add-in). When OPEN
Dialogs don't work right and some software won't even install, something is
SERIOUSLY wrong -- I sent the box back & re-ordered a desktop and laptop w/XP
Media Center, just before the supposed cutoff, in Dec 07. Looks like Media
Center is useless on both boxes...what a waste.
Short version is, I'll have to wait 'til Win7 is out for awhile, before even
THINKING about an upgrade to the main or backup box.
But, I might get a dedicated PC for media/TV when Win 7 is out. Nice to
have an OS native app, instead of yet-another-thingy, hardware or software.
Thanks for the suggestions, though. Guess I'll have to wade through
whatever 3rd party software is available.
