I need to send audio through HDMI to the TV for media center but through line out to the computer speakers for everything else. How do I go about setting this up? For example, is there a way to automatically specify different audio outputs for different programs? I'm running MCE 2005 with a Radeon HD 3450 video card sending HDMI to the TV (in another room) and VGA to a monitor at the PC. The audio is HDMI from the video card to the TV and line out from the realtek on the motherboard to the computer speakers. Thanks for any help! Ari

you are going to have to change the default audio device each time if you want to switch. Right. I see that now. I wrote a program to "listen" for media center to be the active window and switch the audio device to the TV through hdmi if it is, then switch it back to the desktop speakers if media center is not the active window. Trouble is, it doesn't work because it seems that media center has to be closed and opened again to recognize the changed sound device... So I'll just have to switch manually before I open media center and then switch back after I close it. Wish there was a way to have the green start button on the remote launch a different program than media center -- because then I could write a program to just switch the sound device and then launch media center.
