Loss of Signal
I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium on the weekend. Up until today,
everything with Media Center was working fine though I still had some HW
that wasn't recognized or out of date. I started upgrading (bad idea I
guess). I upgraded the Video Card Drivers (ATI Radeon 9600XT) and the Sound
Card Drivers (SB Audigy 2). After that I noticed my TV Capture Card
(Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250) wasn't recognized anymore. I don't recall
initially installing that driver manually so I think it was auto detected
initially. I recall seeing it in Device Manager as a Hauppage WinTV PVR PCI
II something. Well since it was no longer detected automatically and no
longer working, I've been trying to install the drivers manually. They seem
to install but when I go into Media Center is gives me the following error:

Loss of Signal
Windows Media Center has stopped capturing data due to low data rate in the
TV signal...

I have done a number of thing such as:
1) Manually tried all the Hauppauge drivers available in Vista.
2) Run the cable from my card direct to another TV...signal is good
3) Swapped out the Coax cable
4) Unistalled the new drivers (ATI & SB) to revert back to the previous
ones.

None of these have worked. Any idea what the correct driver is or anything
else I should be checking?

Thanks,
D

Re: Loss of Signal
Nevermind...After giving up, I reinstalled the ATI drivers, uninstalled the
Hauppauge driver I previously did and rebooted. Then Vista automagically
installed the correct driver. Not sure why it wouldn't in the prior attempts
but it did this time and I am now happy again. As an FYI, the correct driver
is "Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II (Encoder-16)".
