I installed a utility program that sort of messed up my system and deleted some of my personal documents. I went to restore the system and found some issues. First, there is a restore point each day but it did not create one prior to my installing this software. I thought Windows was supposed to do this automatically. Second, I tried to restore my system to yesterday and then the day before but each time it says that the restore was not successful and to try another date. It gave me no explanation of why it could not restore the system. What is wrong here? I am running XP Media edition with SP 3 installed. Can anybody be of help here?

I have seen that page from a prior post. That page primarily tells me how to restore which I understand. My question is why will Windows not allow me to restore to a date that I picked from the calendar. It starts it and then says that restoration to that date is not possible. Any ideas? If the data for that restore point is missing System Restore fails for that date. -- CSM1 http://www.carlmcmillan.com -- "Jon Dow" wrote in message news:4C0BAAB5-F9ED-48F8-A041-C7BC1795B9C0@microsoft.com... >I have seen that page from a prior post. Windows does *not* create a restore point automatically on program installation. Some, but not all, programs do create a restore point as part of their installation process. Restorations do fail without giving a reason. I've never looked into why this happens :-( Try posting on a general Windows XP newsgroup for further advice; this problem is not part of the mandate of this *Media Center* group. -- Gene E.
