I am running Windows XP with Windows Media Player 11. I have an external USB TV tuner but the software with it is rubbish! Is there any way I can get the tuner to work with media player or do I need to look at getting Windows Media Center??

If the card is an analog TV tuner (i.e. not digital TV, "DTV") then you might want to look if it's in the list of DScaler cards supported http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/card-support/index.htm Even if it isn't, some TV tuners use very generic chips and will work with other drivers. There's little harm in at leasat trying the DScaler software, it makes a good viewing platform : http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/ It has support for externally provided EPG (program guides) in some regions, as well as a lot of performanc tuning features. WMP has no capability for displaying any sort of live TV, so that's not a useful option. Media center edition would make more sense - it comes bundled in Vista Ultimate if you were going down that route. Interesting, what external USB TV tuner do you have? I was thinking about this for my laptop.
