On XP with all updates. Media Player has stopped playing wmv files which are online. It plays local files. It will download and play avi files from the 'net. On trying to down load wmv, it will lock up or return an error message stating that I am not connected to the internet. I have: 1. Updated to Media Player 11 2. Shut down antivirus and firewall to no avail. 3. Checked to see if wmv has correct file association. 4. And, of course, restarted the computer. Wmv will play on Media Player on another computer which is on the lan.
Do non-WMV files work with the player? When did this start happening? If you click "Always connect to the Internet" in WMP's Tools:Options menu, does that fix this? -- Speaking for myself only. See http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. -- "P.C.
