codec 8180
I want to listen to a court hearing. They gave it to me on a CD. When I put
it in (I have both Real Player and Media Center) it says there's a missing
codec 8180

I assume this is just a program needed to run it. When I go to the button to
get more, it says it is not available. Any ideas?

Re: codec 8180
I'm not aware that that's a valid codec - can I get a pointer to the
content? If you upload it somewhere (yousendit, megaupload), I can take a
peek at the codecs it thinks it's using. O_o

RE: codec 8180
My guess is that the audio was recorded onto a PC via digital recording
software and then burned to the CD for you. You likely need to play the
audio on the CD using the same program it was recorded from.

Assuming the courts were using FTR software to record (that might be wrong),
you need to download the free player from FTR's website and play the audio CD
through their software.

You are likely dealing with a .wav file on the disk that has been designed
to only play on a certain player software.

Hope that helps.

RE: codec 8180
I purchased an audio recording of a hearing. It was delivered with a link,
not the file, for playing the recording. Wow, I spent a lot of time looking
for Codec 8180. What I really needed was the FREE FTR player.

Look Here: http://www.fortherecord.com/page.asp?pageid=222

Hopefully someone can Google around and link the useful information for
others to find. Thanks everyone for putting it here....
