adding files to library
I am trying to add files from an external hard drive to the library but
nothing happens. I tried all options even re-installed the media player,
pointed to the external hard drive but no joy.

Re: adding files to library
I have the same problem. I can select my external hard drive to be monitored.
It is listed but the OK button is not active when I click on it. Same happens
when I try to select a folder within the drive. Oddly I can play music from
the hard drive...HELP!

Re: adding files to library
I am having the same problem. I want to monitor a folder that is on a USB
drive but when I go into the monitor folder option in WMP 11 and navigate my
way to the folder on the USB Drive I am unable to select the folder and click
ok. The OK option is greyed out.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem because it seems quite stupid to
not be able to monitor a folder that is held on an externeal device, be it a
Hard drive or a USB stick.
The only way I have been able to get WMP to read the information into the
library is to change the destination folder of the "Rip" music folder, onto
the folder on the USB drive. Please Help.

Re: adding files to library
You can't monitor USB drives as far as I'm aware. The performance from
those ranges from great to awful, so the player plays it safe and doesn't
scan those.

Softly! My WMP11 is not aware that it is not supposed to monitor USB
drives, and is monitoring D:\Steves\Audio perfectly. This is an IDE
drive in a USB enclosure. I've optimised it for performance rather than
removeability (because I use it just as an internal drive) so perhaps
that is fooling WMP11 into accepting it. It never occurred to me, or my
WMP11, that it might not work.

If all else fails, I think you can "mount" the USB drive as a folder in
your C: drive, and I'm certain *that* will fox any WMP. Whether such
mounting is stable over removal/insertions is left as an exercise for
the reader.
