Updating to WMP 11 Causes problems with computer stability
I updated Windows media player on 16 August. Since then computer has been
unusable in normal mode.

Computer starts up - desktop looks normal, but with fewer icons than usual
adjacent to clock. About 20 sec later, desktop blanks then recovers, but now
with no icons near clock. 20 sec later this repeats; another 20 sec and Dr
Watson message appears - 'needs to close etc'.

This occurs for all users.

I can now only run in safe mode.

Have tried setting up a new user(administrator), but this does not work
either.

I have tried system restore but system restore will not work to any previous
restore point. Does not work in safe mode either.

RE: Updating to WMP 11 Causes problems with computer stability
Hi.Sounds like you might have a virus or spyware.Start your pc and do a scan
in safe mode for viruses and spyware. If you can click start, run and type
msconfig and run it.You will see a window with tabs on top.Click startup tab
and disable all.Apply and close. It will prompt you to restart.Restart.this
will disable the program that is doing that to your pc.Then do a scan. When
you scan in safe mode it stops worms from moving to another program, which
they do if your not in safe mode.Hope this helps.TERRY.
