Error: The encoding process was unable to keep up with the amount
.. supplied data.(0xC00D0BCC)

I am trying to set up a live webcam streaming broadcast from my PC.

I downloaded Windows Media Encoder and got it working in terms of producing
video output from the input from the camera but only for about 1 or 2 minutes
then it crashes with the error message quoted.

I did an error message search and found this page -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/871214/en-us?sd=gn#appliesto

"This error occurs because the script stream does not provide a sample at a
regular interval. Therefore, the audio stream and the video stream may queue
up data and may throw this error.

RESOLUTION A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is
only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it
only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download
Center:
the WindowsMedia9-KB871214-x86-ENU.exe" etc.

So I downloaded that but when I tried to install the fix it I got a message

"Set up has detected that the Service Pack version of this system in newer
than the update you are applying.

There is no need to install this update".

So I wondered if the version of Windows Media Encoder was the old one (with
the bug) which I can't fix because my service pack is newer?

Or perhaps the error is being caused for another reason?

My PC is a 2.8 GHz with 2.5 GB of RAM.

I had a look at the Task Manager to see and for the one or two minutes while
it is encoding the video OK the wmenc.exe is taking less than 30% of the CPU
time and 70% is system idle.

So it doesn't look like my PC is too slow so I don't know why it is crashing.

My goodness if it was struggling for CPU time intermittedly I would rather
it dropped a few frames and kept going but it crashes which is USELESS!

Any ideas anyone?

The full error message is -

"The encoding process was unable to keep up with the amount of supplied
data.(0xC00D0BCC)"

Re: Error: The encoding process was unable to keep up with the amount
After seeing the error message fro myour second post :

What bitrate are you sending, and what *outgoing* bitrate can you
sustain consistently according to a bandwidth checker like this
http://www.speedtest.net/ ?

You'd need to repeat the test at least 5x at different times of day,
ensure you had nothing else going on in your outgoing connection and
I'd recommend using no more than 50-60% of the theoretical max of the
encoder *could easily* drop out

You can change the language from en-us to pt-pt in the URL as below :

Re: Error: The encoding process was unable to keep up with the amo
Hi.

I`m not talking about language page. If I change page language to pt-br the
download link (the KB language) is again EN.

I think microsoft don`t have a portuguese KB for this error and i will
always receive the error during install..

I install another KB i found in another forum, I hope it works...

I have the same problem as well and cannot figure out a way to solve this.
Have you found a solution yet Peter?

Thanks
