Windows Mobile Device (Smartphone HTC S720) & Windows Media Player
I have downloaded active sync and all that jazz, but when I load Windows
Media Player 10 it doesn't detect the smartphone. I've tried refreshing the
list, and unplugging then replugging the phone back into the computer, but it
still doesn't detect it. Anyone have some good advice?

Thanks,
Sara

Have to created a "partnership" with the phone in Activesync? After
creating the partnership, select "media" as a item to sync, and WMP should
be able to sync with the device. Windows Mobile based devices only sync
through the Activesync conduit- they do not present themselves as USB mass
storage devices to Windows XP, like most media players do.

Alternatively, if you use a microSD storage card, you could sync that
(instead of syncing the phone itself) using a card reader, pop the card back
into the phone, and select "Update Library" in WMP Mobile. This is faster
(WinMo devices don't support USB file transfer anywhere near the USB 2.0
maximum speeds), particularly when loading large videos, and doesn't require
Activesync.
