uninstall outlook express
Hi,

Does anyone know how to completely uninstall outlook express.
It came preinstalled on my computer.
Worked great for about a year.
Now everytime I try to use my address book it closes outlook express.

Thanks.

MS Outlook Express is an integral component of MS Internet Explorer, through
version 6. MSIE is an integral component of the Windows OS, through XP. If
you can find a reliable way to rip MS Internet Explorer out of your system,
you will be rid of MSOE. I am not sure that anybody has actually succeeded
in removing MSIE without seriously destabilizing Windows.

If you are really done with MSOE, just install another email client, and set
it to be the default email client. Delete all shortcuts to 'msimn.exe', and
you will never be bothered by MSOE again.

If you're not using Outlook Express, what is meant by "Now everytime I try
to use my address book it closes outlook express"?

You can't remove OE, but...................

Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults.
Uncheck Outlook Express.

And locate the OE message store. Right click on the Inbox.dbx and make it
Read Only. This will make OE non-functional and hopefully cure your problem.

Message Store Location:

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of
your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in
Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run.

In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default
marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable
Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options
Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View.

Re: uninstall outlook express
Do you think that uninstalling and then reinstalling OE might fix the
problem? If so, it won't.
