Hello ! ! The readme.doc file for Outlook Express is in the root directory..Can someone tell me how to find the root directory and get this file?....Thanks,Nick -- Don't Sweat The Small Stuff Nick Meale nmeale@embarqmail.com
Readme.doc is in the root of your windows CD, not on your computer. Start hunting your XP CD. Here's a repost of my comment from the last time this issue was raised: --- I know!... Let's tell XPsp1 users to uninstall XPsp1 then install IE6sp1. (That seems to install readme.txt) Alternatively we need to get them to find a copy of ie6setup from somewhere. (Perhaps they can download it before XP catches on.) Then they can use this command line: ie6setup /c:"ie6wzd /E:IEReadme" (I'm not sure if the switch and component are case sensitive or not. That's the way I read them and the way they worked.) Then there are a few skill-testing clicks and finally a reboot. But look at this: Directory of D:\Program Files\Internet Explorer 2002-08-29 07:14 41,224 readme.txt We would also have to inform them that when they go to IE Help (e.g press F1) and search for ReadMe that the help there would be/is wrong. (Right directory info. Wrong filename.) <quote> You can gain access to IE.txt on your computer without connecting to the Web, in the folder where you installed Internet Explorer and Internet Tools. This version contains information that was current at the time you downloaded the programs from the Web. </quote> Pizza cake! Robert Aldwinckle --- </repost>
