DBX files ready to transfer to new computer help please
Thanks everyone for your help.
I have got my DBX files now burned onto a CD
Before I import them into OE6 on my new computer do I have to do anything
else.
I have read somewhere about read only attribute to be turned off?
Does this mean I open the CD and each DBX file look at the properties. And
then uncheck READ ONLY?
What should be checked?
Thanks in advance

Re: DBX files ready to transfer to new computer help please
Copy the entire contents of the CD to a folder you create on your Desktop
and give the new folder you create the name of Mail. Now open the folder
and select all of the files (Ctrl-A will do it) then right click on any one
of the files and choose "Properties" and uncheck the Read-Only attribute and
click the Apply button.

Now open Outlook Express, click File/Folders/Import/Messages, selecting OE6
type and "From a Message Store" and point the wizard to the "Mail" folder
you created on your Desktop. All should import into your existing
installation of Outlook Express. For added info, see this link:
http://www.insideoe.com/backup/index.htm

You cannot import directly from the CD, since the files there are marked as
Read-Only and you cannot clear that attribute until you copy them to a
folder on your hard drive. After the import is done, you can then delete
the "Mail" folder to free up disk space.
