Newsgroup Problem
I use OE5 for newsgroups with my ISP. I find that my initial posting and
subsequent replies to it take a long time to show up on my computer. If I do
a Google search of my posting/replies they are obviously being received by
the group faster than I get them. My ISP says this is a 'known problem' with
OE5. In fact they said I probably wouldn't see my own postings, but in fact
they do show up just after some days.

What is your experience with this 'problem' and what is the solution, if
any. Thanks.

BTW, postings to these newsgroups (MS) show up very quickly.

It's nothing to do with OE, as shown by the speediness of posting to the
MS servers. It's probably your ISP, if that is whose news server you are
using for other groups.

Re: Newsgroup Problem
Thanks. I wondered if there was no problem at all. The standard tech rep
answer is 'upgrade'. Makes me very suspicious indeed...english

Re: Newsgroup Problem
It's quite common for Tech's to try and blame something else, rather
than acknowledge there is a problem at their end!

Re: Newsgroup Problem
I had the same problem with IO4 and got the same 'fix' from the ISP at that
time. It didn't make sense to me that MS newsgroup would 'work' but the
others wouldn't, at least their explanation didn't make much sense and still
doesn't. Now there may be something in what they say but upgrading could be
like getting a vaccination for measles when you have a flu. I'm always slow
to upgrade (obviously since I'm still using IE5.5 and OE5.5) when my present
system works well. I never know what problems I'll encounter as I go up the
food chain. Thanks for your help...english
P.S. I sent your reply to my question to the tech team leader but he hasn't
written back yet. I don't think he will...but he should acknowledge that he
might not know everything. Take care.
