OE Duplicating Hotmail - and Usual Fixes Not Working   

I suddenly out of nowhere, after years, started getting duplicates of
all my hotmail messages in Outlook Express.

I tried turning on and off in different combinations the "go directly
to inbox" and "send and receive messages at startup" which is the
normal fix. But they still came.

Then I did the next step most people suggest. I deleted my Hotmail
Inbox dbx file and let it be re-created. I tried doing this numerous
ways. Still they came. In fact, what happens initially is instead of
just getting new emails in duplicate, when it re-creates the inbox it
downloads ALL the hotmail inbox emails in duplicate. Then after that,
at some point, it deletes half, leaving only single ones, but the new
ones still come in in duplicate.

I've played with all the synchronizations and everything else and I'm
stumped. What's going on? Is this a change on hotmail's end? Is there
anything else I can try?

One other weird thing has been going on which may be related or not.
After deleting and re-creating all the hotmail dbx files, it also has
been deleting and re-downloading all the emails every day or so. It
used to never do this and only do the new ones, leaving the old ones
as they were. Since I have a lot of emails, this takes literally hours
to do every time it unnecessarily does it. I don't know if this is
related to the duplicate issue or not. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
