Cannot Open OE
I was cleaning up unused programs, deleted some updates, and turn
off some start up programs.. result = OE with not open at all. I've
search through the information data base and have reinstalled all
updates, OE will still not open. It went from MSOE.DLL erroe to
MSOERES.DLL

Do I need to reinstall OE? will I lose all my emails? any
 suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS: how do I determine what version of OE I have?

Re: Cannot Open OE
You can try the solution outlined in this KB article which works for all
operating systems except Windows 95:

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP:

Re: Cannot Open OE
Windows version?

> PS: how do I determine what version of OE I have?

OE: Help > About (e.g., 6.00.2800.xxxx)

Start here: http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash

General OE Caveats:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if
Automatic Compacting is taking place (WinXP SP2 only).

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

RE: Cannot Open OE
Thanks for the suggestions, I found, what seems to be the correct information
here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254623/

"Reinstalling Outlook Express may be a helpful troubleshooting step for
problems involving Outlook Express or the Msoe.dll dynamic-link library
(DLL)."

2. Using Windows Explorer, open the %SystemRoot%\Inf folder. (By default,
this is the Winnt\Inf folder.)

How do I find "Windows Explorer" ?

tia

Re: Cannot Open OE
Are you running Windows 2000 and you've never upgraded from Outlook Express
version 5? Why not?

Open Windows Explorer by holding down the Windows key and press the letter
E. Or easier, just hit F1 (or click on Start/Help and Support) and search
for "Using Windows Explorer."

To reinstall, see this article which although written for XP systems, works
well for other systems except Windows 95:
