Though a radio antenna intended for a Chevette is the same as that of a
Corvette's but a lot cheaper... Anyway, Win98SE is mentioned in the
list of "Affected Software" for the patch:
Cumulative Security Update in Outlook Express (897715): MS05-030
Affected Software: Outlook Express 5.5, Outlook Express 6.0, Outlook Express
6 on Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000
Datacenter Server, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows

Windows Update doesn't identify any updates for OE5.5.

....running in Win98. Yes, that's correct:
<QP>
Affected Components:
.. Outlook Express 5.5 Service Pack 2 on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack
3 and on Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4...

I'm not clear what your <QP> means; here's how I read it:
Affected Software:
Outlook Express 5.5,
Outlook Express 6.0,
Outlook Express 6
on
Windows Server 2003,
Windows 2000 Advanced Server,
Windows 2000 Datacenter Server,
Windows 2000 Professional,
Windows 2000 Server,
Windows XP Home Edition,
Windows XP Professional,
Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Web Edition,
Windows 98,
Windows 98 SE,
Windows Me,
Internet Explorer 5.5,
Internet Explorer 6.0
Or, to strip it down for my purposes:
Affected Software:
Outlook Express 5.5,
on
Windows 98 SE,

Re: Outlook Express 5.5 Update
<QP> = <Quote/Paste>
Put your thinking cap on: Yes, Win9x and OE5.5 are Affected Components but
in Win9x, the only version of OE subject to the vulnerablility addressed by
897715 is OE6 SP1.
Again, rely on Windows Update for patches your machine needs instead of
picking & choosing ones you think it might need. That's what's it there
for!

There you go! If you're running OE5.5 in Win98, you don't need any updates,
therefore you shouldn't try to install 897715 (especially 897715 for Win2K).
You /should/ be running OE & IE 6 SP1 for maximum security and I'm sure
Windows Update is offering it to you as it's a Critical Update for Win98.
