I had a computer crash and had to do a rebuild of Windows XP. I used the disc and did a upgrade instead of a full reinstall. Everything went fine and I got OE working fine downloading. The problem is that when I send a message I get a message saying 'Windows Installer' This fails to open and then another box opens with the following: ---------------------------------------------------------- Windows Installer The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package DATA1.MSI in the box below. ---------------------------------------------------------- As far as I know I did not do anything to make my computer a network station or anything -- Regards John Hopkins http://groups.yahoo.com/group/advertising-n-spotlighting
Sounds like you have spell checking enabled and were using Picture It or something similar for that purpose: 294731 - PIP 2001: Clicking Send or Running Spell Check in Outlook Express Runs Windows Installer for Picture It!: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=294731 Try disabling the spell checker and see if that fixes it. (Tools/Options/Spelling tab on OE's menu) -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile=F9F51EF1-4AE3-4D23-B2D8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped.
