Images stop downloading - UPDATE
This is an update of the problem I described in the thread
"Images stop downloading" started on August 9 and 10.
Special thanks to Srgio Cardoso for the pointers.

Very short summary: when encountering certain images on a
web page, IE 5.5 and 6.0 stop displaying *all* subsequently
encountered images on *all* web pages, regardless of format.
Clearing the cache doesn't help, but closing and restarting
IE clears the problem in most cases, until one of the images
are encountered again. Then the problem starts all over.

This is a known problem that has been seen by many users, and
applying the latest patches to IE 6.0 SP1 seems to resolve it.
However, there doesn't seem to be any patch for IE 5.5.
I've tried all suggestions, but nothing helps for IE 5.5.
(I can live with it, as I also have a computer with IE 6.0)

The problem is explained in detail in the thread
"Specific jpg images stop all from loading" from Dec 11, 2002:
http://groups.google.se/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser/browse_frm/thread/976206d06c4fa67e/3a5d02cc184748fe

There are two Microsoft pages describing this problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=817177
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=883BD884-3C14-4F91-B96C-593AE7B9905C&displaylang=en

The second one states that the cause of the problem is:
"This problem may occur if you view a Web page that references an
image that was saved from Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on Macintosh OS 10."

So, I'll have to live with it on the computer running IE 5.5
(which isn't in a state that allows upgrading OS or IE...)
