When I turn on the computer the machine acquires and drops a couple of dsl connections. I have to use ipconfig/release and then/renew to get a connection which is often dropped causing a repeat of the process. I may be running IE 6.0 I have no idea. I am running xp home with all service packs installed. It is a p4. I have three other machines running through the same hub, all of which connect fine and hold the dsl connection. The ISP could not help me past determining that my machine makes and drops several connections. Can anyone help? I changed the NIC card and properly set all drivers for the new card. Jerome
Please define 'dropped'. Precise symptoms/error messages please. -- __________________________________________ Sandi's Site has changed - for instructions on how to find old URLs, go here: http://msmvps.com/spywaresucks/archive/2005/05/14/46971.aspx Hyperlinks used to ensure advice is current Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 http://inetexplorer.mvps.org "Jerome Liebling" wrote in message news:A653D713-E28D-411D-B780-BB8FD1893DF9@microsoft.com... > When I turn on the computer the machine acquires and drops a couple of dsl > connections. The ISP tells me that my machine makes and drops repeated dsl connections during the startup process wiith the final status being no connection, as opposed to making one connection and holding on. When I try to start IE I received the typical no connection error message. I tried two new NIC cards but it seems to be in IE related on that machine only. Can you help? Thank you "Jerome Liebling" wrote: > When I turn on the computer the machine acquires and drops a couple of dsl > connections. If you have an old dial up account set up on the problem machine, delete it. More likely the hub is faulty. Have you tried swapping out points to check that? -- __________________________________________ Sandi's Site has changed - for instructions on how to find old URLs, go here: http://msmvps.com/spywaresucks/archive/2005/05/14/46971.aspx Hyperlinks used to ensure advice is current Sandi - Microsoft MVP since 1999 http://inetexplorer.mvps.org "Jerome Liebling" wrote in message news:10952C3B-F08A-497B-B559-B5E9D1951E09@microsoft.com... > DSL with four computers through a simple hub. all other machines have not > problem.
