Web pages display as 3/4 fractions
I am having a problem with IE5.5 SP2 on a Win 95 machine. English
language web pages sometimes display as a screen full of 3/4 fractions
instead of text. If I manually change encoding from western European
to central European the page will display correctly until I click
another link then the problem returns. If I use encoding auto-select
it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Re: Web pages display as 3/4 fractions
You shouldn't use auto select anyway, it is problematic (to put it nicely).

Stick to Western European.

Problem is, the pages will not display correctly with Western
European. It doesn't matter if auto-select is on or off, the browser
will change from Central to Western with each link I click on the page
and the problem returns. Is there any way to force the browser to
stay on Central?
Thanks.

Re: Web pages display as 3/4 fractions
This is getting into complicated stuff, and I barely grok Western European
fixes let alone Central.

Do a search of MSDN online for the encoding type in question and you may get
a hit for the registry settings/files that may be corrupt/missing.
