My IE ver. 5.5 is corrupt. I use Win '98. When AOL was our service provider IE ver 5.5 worked fine. Then we switched to Road Runner High Speed Inernet. Ever since, IE has not worked properly. It won't download files at all. Call it laziness or ? but I just never bothered taking this issue up with RR, instead I just started using Netscape as my main browser. Some programs/functions require IE though. The main change that I have noticed is with the Temporary Internet Files Folder. Both the slide arrow and the "How much space to be used for" box both register zero. When I try to move the slide lever up it always goes back to zero. When I try to increase the numbers in the MB box I get an error message that says "Please select a value between 1 and 0 for how much disk space Temp. Inet. Files may use." and nothing will download. Obviously broken. I'd like to install the newer version of IE ver 6 but I don't know if I need to uninstall ver 5.5 first. Also, do I need to contact Road Runner about this? All feedbacks would be much appreciated. Thanks, Judy -- Judy

Thanks, Judy Cannot Change Temporary Internet Files Cache Size http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=195163 You Cannot Change the Temporary Internet File Folder or the Cache Size http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=301897 -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only. You do not need to uninstall ie 5 before installing ie 6. You can reinstall ie 5.5 also, but don't bother if it is not ie 5.5 SP2, I would go with ie6.00 SP1 if I had less than ie 5.50 SP2. Help, about box will show your version, Windows\Active Setup Log.txt file will show the success/status of your last attempt to install ie. Frank's advice first, mine second, Road Runner a far distant fourth after AOL. Perhaps there is an AOL troubles group? Look for ie installation files on Norton CDs, Office CDs and several others. Copy the folder from the CD to your hard drive and run the setup.exe from your hard drive for best results.
