First eliminate any spyware.
What You Should Know About Spyware

CAUTION!!!!! Removing some spyware can damage the Winsock stack and you may
not be able to connect to the Internet. Before you try to remove spyware,
download a copy of LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2
stacks AFTER you remove the software (all Windows versions)

In WinXP SP2: You can fix Winsock by going to Start | Run and typing
CMD
In the command window type
netsh winsock reset

Thanks for your response. But I had already read this answer that you posted
to someone else. I have run the anti-spyware tools and didn't help. have
already run LPs-Fix and have ran Hijackthis and turned in logs to security
forums(such as castle Cops) which said the log was clean. Not running XP so
that part doesn't help.
Anthing else to try than the above?

Re: shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm error
Hi,
What type of internet connection- dial-up, cable, dsl?
Have you tried disabling any third-party security/privacy programs which
might be causing this?
Try deleting the History folder and the Temporary Internet Files folder. See
the instructions at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm Delete the
*folders* don't just delete the files.
I would try to fix this problem first, but you should, for security reasons,
upgrade to IE6.
What's link to the HijackThis log?
