Re: IE will not start
If you are using XP Pro, then you are not using IE5.5, but IE6.
The IE5.5 group is not well frequented and I suggest you try a group
with more relevance and heavier traffic.

 IE6 newsgroups.

Re: IE will not start - Me too!
I have the same problem, only I am on W2000. I'd like to download the latest
correct verson of IE for W2K, because I think IE may have been overwritten by
an AOL IM installation (there's an AOL triangle logo in the upper right
corner of my IE screen now) The MS site does not give me a clue where to
download IE 5.5 though. It's oriented exclusively to IE V6 and WXP. Can you
help? Please?

Re: IE will not start - Me too!
What version of IE are you using now? (as shown in IE-Help-About)

You cannot download IE5.5 from MS.
Old IE versions.
http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/microsoft/ie/
http://www.greenapple.com/support/software/browsers/default.htm

For IE5.5 SP2, you can get a CD here for $2.99
http://on-disk.com/ie55sp2.html

Sorry, but I am unfamiliar with AOL and I don't know if you are
referring to an AOL browser of just IE that has been branded.
How to remove branding.
To remove all Internet Explorer branding, follow these steps:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type

   rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear

   and then click OK.

4. Restart Internet Explorer.
